  • Dempsey jolt is a type of punching motion made famous by the American boxer Jack Dempsey.
  • Depth zones is a concept created by American kempo instructor Ed Parker. Four of the zones are: (1) hand to elbow, (2) elbow to knee, (3) knee to shoulder, and (4) shoulder to head.
  • Discernment is a sensitivity to what is really happening between or with people.
  • Dutch Arrows are hand thrown arrows.

These are terms that I have been exposed to during my martial arts training over several decades. Some of the terms are generic martial art jargon. Other terms usages are martial art/style/organization/school specific.
