  • Shin is called ashi in Japanese.
  • Small circle jujutsu is a modern jujutsu style created by Wally Jay. He had studyied Danzan-Ryu jujutsu and Kodokan Judo in Hawaii.
  • Sole of the foot is called ashi ura in Japanese.
  • Spanish darts were short spears from 10 inches to 36 inches long used as hand thrown weapons. The British King Henry VIII was proficient with throwing them.
  • Strangle hold is a generic term used to describe the cutting off the blood suppy to the brain by applying pressure to the arteries in the neck. In Chinese, the generic term is qia bo zi. In Japanese, the generic term is shime waza.
  • Stirrups on a saddle are Abumi in Japanese.
  • Suplex is a wrestling move done similarly to the Kodokan Judo throw called ura nage. It is done by grabbing the opponent from the front, a bear hug. Lift or trip the opponent and throwing one's self backward with the opponent projected over the thrower's head.
