Johnson Taps Norfolk Chief For Prince George's Police

ABOUT ME:

Newman

The name Newman has existed in Ireland since the thirteenth century and is usually of immigrant origin having been brought to the country by settlers who arrived from England. The majority of descendants bearing this name can today be mostly found in Counties Dublin, Cork and Meath.

My first real exposure to law enforcement was when I was in high school. During my Senior year, I had some free time, so I enrolled in a school internship program with the Maryland State Police. Through this experience, I knew that I wanted to have a career as a Police Officer. When I graduated, I went on to Essex Community College and received an A.A. in Criminal Justice. From there, I enrolled in the University of Baltimore to complete my B.S. in Criminal Justice. During my last year at UB, I also completed another internship with the Baltimore County Police Department. By doing this, I became certain in my career decision.

Upon graduation from college, I enlisted in the U.S. Army and entered into the Military Police Corps. I was then sent to Fort Lewis, WA for my duty station. This was an experience, I'll leave it at that. I started off in a guard shack, and after a while, got to work patrol on base. My deployment overseas really opened my eyes to how good of a life I had back home. By the time I got out of the Army, I had received some investigative experience working in M.P.I. (Military Police Investigations).

When I got out, I was hired on with Prince George's County Police Department. I have been on now for over four years and love it. I am still gaining experience and learning as I go. This site will be a place to share my experiences and ideas. If anyone has any ideas on how to make it better, let me know. I am open to anything.

Also, I collect police patches. If you are in law enforcement and are interested in trading, e-mail me.

Anyone want to have their law enforcement related stories, experiences or concerns published online. Just send them in and let me know if you want to be identified along with the story or not. This is your chance to share with the world anything that's on your mind.

On April 01, 2001, I made Detective. I now work in the Detective Bureau at District II.
