DAY 2, HATCH TO CIRCLEVILLE - 44 MILES
We slept like babies after yesterday's grueling ride and were ready to face an easier day on the road. Today's ride was significantly shorter and one of the few days without a mountain pass to climb. But the winds out of the north had not abated and it was still damn cold. Nonetheless, it was not too tough today. A few miles past Hatch you pass the turn-off to Bryce N.P. and continue north on 89 through a wide valley of ranch land where a light dusting of fresh snow covered the tops of the mountains. Nothing like the spectacular rock formations in the National Parks but still pretty scenery and very light traffic.

And it was Sunday, which meant the one market in town was closed, as were most of the few other commercial establishments. In fact, about the only thing open was the Butch Cassidy Motel and Restaurant where we stayed for the night and ate all our meals.
