Wind River Indian Reservation

Day 2: Dubois to Riverton Another sunny day with hardly a cloud in the sky. Could this really be Wyoming in May? We were beginning to think we'd cheated the fates and got great weather along with off-season traffic.

At 80+ miles this was our longest day's ride. But we were dropping a couple of thousand feet of elevation and the prevailing winds, though light, were at our back. Mostly ranch land scenery through the Wind River Indian Reservation. Two small towns along the way consisting of just a gas station, convenience store, and post office but they were welcome refueling stops.

Rest stop at Crowheart

Riverton was the biggest and least interesting of the places we stayed. But we had a nice motel room at typically cheap Wyoming rates, and another NBA game on cable TV. Our other entertainment was touring the Ford dealership across the street from the motel and ogling the 4 wheel drive trucks. I don't think you can find 2 wheel drive in Wyoming. And everyone's pulling horse trailers and wearing ten gallon hats. Next
