Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind (CLB) knows that access to the latest computer
technology opens a world of opportunities to individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
CLB brings the latest hardware and software developments to you through our fully-stocked
and knowledgably-staffed Assistive Technology (AT) Center. CLB helps clients and employers
in 97 cities across the country with AT consultations, installations, and training.
Braille output enables computers users to read what's on screen. The AT Center
provides access to the latest voice synthesizers, "navigators," scanners, text enlargement
software and braille output devices. Assistive technology enables people who are blind and
visually impaired to more easily access computers and the Internet. This expands a
number of opportunities strengthening independence, including the chance to learn
marketable skills for new, technology-oriented jobs.
CLB invites employers to see the latest technology in action, observing
the ease with which AT can be integrated into the workplace.
