Classic Dresses
There are so many ways you can choose to make this dress. The ones below are just a few ideas. See the styles on the other pages, but there are more options only limited by your imagination. These simple styles can be embellished with a sailor collar with coordinating trim, rounded front collar in the same fabric or coordinating solid collar (with zippered back) or Peter Pan collar. You can choose long or short sleeve with or without gathers at the top of the sleeve. Long sleeves can be finished with a straight hem, matching or coordinating cuff, ribbing or elastic. Choose button front or zippered back.

Jumpers are so versatile! You can wear the same jumper in the winter with a turtleneck or short sleeve in summer. You can dress them up or down. I often start out a jumper wearing it for dress-up with a nice blouse; then when it gets a bit worn, wearing it with a knit shirt for everyday. Jumpers don’t have sleeves that get too short, so they can be worn a long time on growing girls if you start it out with growing room on the skirt length. Jumpers are modest for older girls and ladies because of several layers on top. Jumpers can be worn when you are nursing, (the dropped armholes are ideal for discreet nursing) and your waistline is changing. And jumpers are comfortable even when your waistline isn’t changing!
This jumper is made with #15 and is made with an aline skirt instead of a straight full skirt. An aline is narrower at the waistline, but still full at the hem. A bit more flattering for those heavy in the hip. Prices are the same. A line skirt can be made on any jumper, skirt, or dress.

Aline elastic waist skirt adult size in a light blue heavier denim. is narrower at the waist and still full at the hem. These are my favorite for the little girls.
They can dress themselves so easily with the rib knit at the neckline. There are no buttons or zippers to fuss with. They can comfortably nap in these, or if they fall asleep at night, just wear it for pajamas. Actually, I also use this style for all the girls’ pajamas, making it longer and long sleeves in the winter. (See below)
As the girls mature, they switch to jumpers, and classic dresses made with woven fabrics. Knit fabrics tend to cling and so aren't as suitable for dresses for older girls and women. Knit jumpers work better for modesty because of the many layers of fabric. These dresses also fit a long time because of the stretch of the fabric and the loose, flowing style.
Imagine just a simple long T-shirt type in a sweet
knit
print for daughters/and or mothers matching.
These will fit for at least a couple
of years. Choose any of the knit fabrics.
This pajama can be altered for nursing and maternity
by having a yoke
in the front with a large pleat concealing nursing openings.

To think about:
For little girls wearing dresses for play,
I recommend getting a few basic color shorts for summer,
and cotton leggings (department or discount store)
for winter for wearing under the dresses for the time when they
are learning to be modest in the way they sit, or roll over!
Tights are okay for dress up, but not for everyday;
they just aren’t very comfortable. Our girls never seemed to mind wearing the leggings.
Tip for denim skirts/jumpers: Do your hems curl up after washing and drying?
Try hanging them to dry instead of in the dryer. Shake garment, then hang.

Nightgowns!

Trims around the neck will be free, such as the lace
on this sample of a classic zip dress
neckline. If you want lace, I will email some photos of options
for the lace trims. If you want laces on the skirt hem, there will
be an additional charge.
