I
am a member of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP). I first joined when I was a teenager
back in 1979 or 80 I don't remember which. I got out when I graduated from
high school and moved to Atlanta to attend college. I rejoined in 1991 after
my life settled down. The CAP is the civilian auxiliary of the United
States Air Force. The CAP has a threefold mission as chartered by Congress.
Search and Rescue (SAR), a Cadet Program, and Aerospace Education. As far
as organizations that are worthwhile to belong to, I believe this to be one
of the best.
Postions I have held:
Director of Emergency Services, Group Six 1997 - 1999
Commander Group Nine 1996 - 1997
Deputy Commander, Group Nine 1995 - 1996
Senior Programs Officer, Group Nine 1994 - 1995
Deputy Commander, West Broward Composite Squadron 1991 - 1995
Aerospace Education Officer, West Broward Comp. Sq. 1991 - 1994
I currently hold the grade of Lieutenant Colonel and due to family and work commitments this year haven't been able to spend much time attending meetings. Hopefully, toward the end of this year or early next year I will be able to continue where I left off with the CAP.
