To reach the site, enter the main gate of Pinecrest, pass the office and the house (on your right), and you will see a large rectangular sign reading, "TODAY'S SERVICES," with a list of names and colored arrows to follow. At this sign, roads branch. Take the road branching to the left. That is, you turn back towards DIP, which you can see, across the fence. [You will be able to see the wall/fence and DIP along most of the route. Our memorial is at the very end of the Pinecrest property, where the wall/fence turns and runs along the road beside I-10. The motel that you see beside I-10, just before crossing the overpass, is slightly visible across the wall/fence from our memorial. If you bear that in mind, it can help you follow the correct route while you look for the turns we've attempted to detail here.]
After you have turned left at the "TODAY'S SERVICES" sign, proceed until you see (just ahead on your right) a small white hanging sign with the black number "1" on it. These signs mark sections of the cemetery, and each numbered section has such a sign at each end. Turn right here and follow this path until you see the other sign numbered "1" (on your left). Here, you will turn right again, passing a sign numbered "4" on your right, and proceed until you see another sign numbered "4" (again, on your right). The sign across from this "4" is numbered "5N." You will turn left and follow the path beside this "5N" sign, which leads across a bridge, until you see a sign numbered "25." At this sign, turn right and proceed until you see a sign numbered "29" (on your left). [NOTE: If the "29" sign is missing, which it was when I plotted the route, look straight ahead across the intersection, and you will see a sign numbered "30" on the right side of the road.] This "29" (or empty signpost!) on your left marks OUR drive. You should already be able to see the circle and the toolshed at the top of the drive to your left, as you sit at this corner. Turn left and go to the top. As you drive up, you should be seeing a view resembling the last two photos above. Park in the circle and walk back toward the wall/fence, where you will probably already see the rear of the white marble monument. (It is actually located close to the foot of a tree, facing towards the wall, as the close-up photos above show clearly.)
We hope you will find this a place conducive to reflection and prayer. If you -- or others you may lead there -- bring personal griefs to it, we hope those griefs will be soothed, and that all those coming to this spot will find comfort. While you are there, please include a prayer for the pro-life movement in general and for the work of Alabama Citizens for Life of Mobile, in particular. Thank you and may God bless you!
