The Disney-MGM Studios opened its
doors to the public on May 1, 1989. This 135-acre theme park is a fully functional studio
that produces movies, animations, and radio broadcasts. The Disney MGM Studios is divided
into 'famous' streets and areas such as: Hollywood Boulevard, Sunset
Boulevard, New York Street, Dalmatian Avenue, the Animation
Courtyard, and Echo Lake.
As soon as you
enter the Disney MGM Studios you will feel like youre in Hollywood in the 1930s.
When you enter through the main gates be sure to look immediately to your right and you
will see Oscar's Classic Car Souvenirs and Super Service Station. This store resembles a
1930s gas station with a real 1947 Buick parked out front. Your journey begins down
Hollywood Boulevard which has many shops designed from actual architecture of California.
At then end of Hollywood Boulevard you will see a full-scale reproduction of Mann's
Chinese Theater. This houses The Great Movie Ride, sponsored by Coca-Cola.
Navigation at The Disney MGM Studios is easy! At the top of
each page there is a drop down list box "MGM Transportation" which allows you to
navigate throughout the Studios. You can also take a self-guided tour using the
navigation at the bottom of the page.

The Disney-MGM Studios normal hours of operation are 9am-7pm, with
extended hours during the summer and school vacation periods. If you are a Walt Disney
World resort guest then you participate in Early Bird Mornings.
Early Bird Mornings take place on Wednesdays and Sundays
at The Disney-MGM Studios. Here resort guests can ride selected attractions
1½ hours before they open to the public.
- If you are not a Walt Disney World resort guest you should arrive
at the Studios about a ½ hour prior to the official park opening time because cast
members will usually open up the gates early.
- The most popular attraction at the Disney-MGM Studios is The
Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. To avoid the long lines, ride it as soon as the park
opens or prior to park closing.
Check the Tip Board located at the junction of Sunset and
Hollywood Boulevards, it has the latest waiting times for all Disney-MGM Studios
attractions.
- When you first enter The Disney-MGM Studios, grab a park guide
map. With this you can find out where you can find the characters, show times for
certain attractions, and what performers are performing and where.
- Make your lunch and dinner reservations at least two or more days
in advance for The 50s Prime Time Cafe, The Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater, and the Hollywood
Brown Derby . This can be done by calling (407) WDW-DINE or by the tip board for
same day reservations.
- Strollers, wheelchairs, and electric convenience vehicles can be
rented at Guest Relations located at Oscar's Super Service Station located to the right of
the main entrance. Stroller and wheelchair rentals cost $5.00 with a $1.00 refundable
