Welcome to The Magic Kingdom! This was the
first theme park to be built here at Walt Disney World and was Walt Disney's
first idea for the Florida property. At the the time it was built it was
the largest private construction project in the world. Taking 2½
years to build, and about $400 million dollars The Magic Kingdom opened
it's doors to 10,000 visitors on Opening Day on October 1, 1971.
The Magic Kingdom is divided up into seven different "lands":
Main Street, U.S.A.; Adventureland;
Frontierland; Liberty Square;
Fantasyland; Mickey's Toontown
Fair; and Tomorrowland. Upon entering The
Magic Kingdom you will be lead on to Main Street U.S.A. which runs all the
way down to Cinderella's Castle. At the end of Main Street, and in front
of Cinderella's Castle is what we call the "hub" of the park.
From the hub you can get to each of the seven different lands. Taking the
first right at the hub leads you into Tomorrowland; the first left into
Adventureland; the second right into Mickey's Toontown Fair and Fantasyland;
the second left into Frontierland and Liberty Square; and if you head straight
into Cinderella's Castle you will end up in Fantasyland. The entire park
is encircled by The Walt Disney Railroad and is a must ride for the first
time visitor.
