Shadow's Links to Page Building Tips




Have you been surfing the Web for awhile now and have decided it's YOUR turn to have a page but don't know how to get started? Has the question "How did they do that" been popping into your head alot lately? Well, to help you out, I've listed some places here where you can get lots of info for designing your own page(s) as well as where you can get an html editor. Just remember, no one is ever happy with that first page so keep trying (G)

I've divided the page into sections so go to the area that you're looking for info on.

    This is just a brief list of some available HTML editors. There are lots more out there. A good place to locate more is NONAGS or if using Win95/Win98, check Winfiles.com

  • Coffecup HTML Editor ++ Shareware; Built in animated gifs and java scripts
  • Arachnophilia Web Site Workshop Careware; Win95/Win98/NT; Has tutorials for HTML and Javascripting

    The links here have either downloadable scripts or you can copy/paste right from the page in case your HTML editor does't have them built in. Just remember, not all browsers can handle java scripts.

    This is a way for visitors to let you know what they thought about your page. If you don't want to create your own using forms and cgi-scripts, try one of these free guestbooks. All of these feature the ability to post a visitor's email address, home page URL, and comments to a web page for others to see.

    It's always nice to know how many people are stumbling on to your page. You can add one of these counters to your page with just some HTML code and no cgi-scripts.

  • Extras
    This list has some places for getting graphic files (just a few), midis for the background and other things.

  • Gif Wizard This site offers the ability to decrease the file size of your graphics without decreasing the viewable size or even the quality. Can really help speed up the loading of your page, especially for visitors on slower modems.
  • Debby's GIF animation Page Lots of animated gifs
  • GIF Animation Archive More animated gifs
  • A+ Art Lots of non-animated graphics
  • Laurie McCanna's Free Art Site Some really nice artwork
  • Cyberspyder Shareware; Tests the links on your page for accuracy, broken links, etc.
