There's lots to see and do on the Web, so I've listed a few places for you. Just click on the links and
off you go. If you find a place you think you may visit often, add that site to your hotlist, bookmarks or favorites list.
One of the most common activities on the web is downloading files. Since most of the files are compressed (usually zipped), you'll probably want to make sure you have something to unzip them. Check out Winzip There are versions for Win9x and Win3.1x so make sure you get the correct version. Its easy to use and had lots of features that make it easy to check out the files. While on the subject of file downloads, be sure to scan all files you download for viruses. Check out Computer Virus Help on Prodigy for info on anti-virus programs and where to get them. You might also want to signup for the mailing list to keep current on anti-virus software. There's also an archive of previous newsletters and a place to send Henri Delger questions about viruses. Great info for everyone, not just pros
Ok, now down to some fun stuff (G) These links are in no particular order.
Ever wonder what a city out in cyberspace might look like? Check out Cybertown Main Town to see a cybercity in 'action'. Lots to see and do there..
Since Chocolate is THE major food group, a visit to Hershey Kitchens is a MUST (G) There's lots
of yummy recipies not only for that all important Chocolate item, but even some other yummy things
as well. Also check out The Global Gourmet This site has several online food magazines on it. It used to be known as electronic Gourmet Guide if you've ever seen that.
Looking for some humor? Try C*E*A or The Center for the Easily Amused. Some cute stuff, some funny stiff and a LOT of odd stuff (G)
Looking for some stuff for the kids online? Well, there's Crayola Lots of fun things for kids to do offline as well, Lego also has a site on line with fun things for the kids.
A site I like to visit from March til about Mid-June is Falcon-Vision This is a live action camera shot of a pair of nesting peregrine falcons. The nest is near the top of a building in Pittsburgh PA and the male has been there for several years but his old mate died so there's a new 'lady' falcon. They do have an album of pictures from last year so even when mom or dad is hiding the eggs, there's something to see. It's kind of fun to watch the chicks grow from little fuzzy balls to good sized falcons.
Are you a Doom, Doom2, Heretic or Hexen fanatic? There are are lots of wads out there for those games. Just be patient if trying to access during peak times because the site is busy and has a limited number that can access at any one time.
Since I've upgraded to Win9x, I've spent a lot of time looking for 'toys' and tips. Since I've accumulated so many, I made a separate page just for links to Win9x stuff. So, check outShadow's Win9x Stuff for addons, programs and tips.
I've recently become semi-addicted to IRC chat. The software I use is Pirch and I really like it A LOT : ) One of the things I enjoy while chatting is playing Ascii art. Ascii Art is pictures made out of just normal text characters and colors (with a few extended ascii characters thrown in) Some of the sites were I collect Ascii Art (not to mention copying and pasting right in the channel) are:
Budman and Aixa's Textplayer Page
Chandra's CyberWorld - IRC
Ascii Art Page for Pirch
Joan Stark's Ascii Art Gallery
That should get you started on your collection. For more, check out one of the popup channels on irc or any of the popup channels listed on those web pages.
Well, that should be enough to get you started (G) Please be sure to sign my Guestbook and thanks for being visitor #
