This is a photo of my homemade balance stand. It has ball bearing rollers and when the crank is placed on it and the correct balance weights are placed on the rod journals, the crank will stay at whatever position it is put at if it is in correct balance. If it keeps rotating and stoping in one place the lowest point is heavy and should be drilled. You must drill a little at a time and retry it. On the bottom of the stand are four factory balance weights, 2 for A50 and 2 for A65's. There is also a aluminium mold I made, in which molten lead is poured to make my own weights. 01250009.jpg
01250011.jpg This is a picture of a A65 crank with it dissasembled. The 3 flywheel bolts have been removed, the sludge trap end plug removed and the sludge tube partially removed so it can be seen. There is a hole in the middle of the sludge trap that is penetrated by one of the flywheel bolts to hold it in place. The flywheel bolt that does this has a longer tip than the other two. The flywheel pictured has been lightened by turning in a lathe.
This is a picture of a needle bearing that was in on of the motors I had replacing the idler gear bush. I don't know if this is the same roller supplied in the rand kit, and there was no thrust washer on this motor like the Rand kit provided. The part No. on this bearing is BH-1110 and the manufacturer is torrington. 04020006.jpg
