The winning logo for the Westchester Triathlon Club is. . . Globe version 3.
Notes:
- A final vote was received from 12 out of 16 people on the email distribution list
for developing the logo. 75% voter turnout.
- Decision was based on the following method: If you can swim 4000 yards in an hour,
average 25mph on a bike, run a 10K at a sub 5:30 per mile pace, then your vote got extra
consideration. If a spouse or significant other was consulted then extra points there too.
This was then adjusted by the number of races you've done multiplied by the number of years
you've competed to determine how much weight your vote got. Just kidding of course. Seriously...
- The winning logo was decided by the plurality method (logo getting most first
place votes wins). Alternatively, going with a voting tally of assigning points
for 1st, 2nd, 3rd choices would also bring us to the same conclusion. Table 1 below
shows the number of votes received for each logo, and their point totals based
on 3 points for a 1st choice, 2 points for a second choice, and 1 point for a
third choice.
- A couple of voters wrote in their concern about the potential for a less
popular logo coming out on top as a result of a split vote. For example, if folks
divided over the two blue waters, this could allow for the
less popular exclamation point to come out on top etc. But as the table
shows, this wasn't the case. No one voted for Blue water 2 as the most preferred
logo (perhaps due to Barney's words of wisdom about solid
backgrounds chafing "monster buff pecs"), and globe 3 was generally preferred to globe 2.
So, despite the fact that there were two sets of related logos, folks
weren't divided over which one of a set to go with.
- My personal choice? Blue water v3, then globe v3, then speed v3. in a very
close call.
