AMASA (am-uh-say)

AMASA was formed in 1991. The name is a Native American name meaning, "Of the Strong". each bandmember is a seasoned veteran, "Captan" Bass & Rhythym guitar, Bryant Wagner-Guitars, J. Raye-Vocals, Marc Soucy-Keyboards, and Vic on the drums.

Amasa was born when original members, Capt. and Vic. played with a Southern California band, 'WITNESSES". While in Witnesses the band was voted "best heavy metal band in Santa Barbara" by Fear Hypo DTYD radio, Santa Barbara. The "Santa Barbara Compilation Album" and the "WISE UP' E.P. opened doors for the band receiving airplay on KTYD, KNAC, and KCSB: They toured the L.A. Circuit as well as opened for acts such as Pat Travers, Blue Oyster Cult, Foghat, etc. Looking for a different direction, members Capt. and Vic recruited East Coast Guitarist, Bryant Wagner, and Keyboardist, Marc Soucy. Both from the Boston area and veterans of the East Coast Circuit as well as accomplished session players, they were the perfect foundation for "AMASA". With the addition of original vocalist J. Raye, Guitarists -Johnny Sanchez and Bassist -Norman Reed, AMASA set off to the studio and two years of aggressive West Coast touring, including an appearance by Captain at the "Rose Bowl" with vocalist Tony Zane (30,000 in attendance).

Collectively, AMASA's five members have a straight shooting sound. With a progressive Heavy Metal sound and hard rock overtones, they shoot straight for the heart. The style and sound of AMASA is all their own, yet will seem familiar. AMASA's goal? To produce material of the highest quality and present it to the "industry", and most of all, our most loyal, trusted fans. Recently AMASA made the decision to relocate back to its roots, the East Coast. With the tragic loss of Bryant Wagner, AMASA's original lead guitarist, we have decided to keep his guitar work on this tape, as he performed it, as a tribute to our friend and great guitarist.
