Biography: Kirk (The Kaptain) Bartholomew

Present project: El Kapitan (the band)

As a musician I have over 20 years experience playing both guitar and bass and just recently I have been studying vocals for a year and a half now. My vocal instructor is from the Chech. Republic and has a strong background in opera.

Experience: Over the years I have played top 40/commercial to original material, recording with such bands as Witnesses, Amasa and just recently El Kapitan. Gigs have been from small "intimate" clubs in Santa Barbara/L.A. to the Boston circuit. My last L.A. appearance was at the Rose Bowl in front of 30,000 people by a special invitation.

My latest project is El Kapitan. The name was chosen because while in L.A. everyone associated with the music business refered to me as Kaptain. I felt that it was a logical thing to do. The band, at present, consists of myself (guitar, bass and vocals) and Marc Soucy (Producer, keyboards, and programing). A full band to support the CD is planned and gigs will follow sometime in the late spring or early summer. The music on the CD has ties to different styles, from progressive to metal to post industrial/techno music.
