GO POUND SAND!

Say these words to Chuck Feld and he'll do just that. Hailing from West Chester, Pennsylvania, Chuck began sculpting sand over 20 years ago as a cure for boredom on the beach. Now, after placing five times in the North American Sand Sculpting Championships, Chuck is one of only sixty Master Sand Sculptors. He has collaborated with other world class sculptors in San Diego, Virginia Beach, Atlantic City, as well as in the 2002 Sand Sculpture Festival in Blankenberg, Belgium. Chuck has appeared three times sculpting castles on Good Morning America and his talents have been featured in a how-to video "Let's Build a Sand Castle."

Sand Pounders is a professional sand sculpting firm located outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. With the help of other professional sand sculptors, Chuck Feld's Sand Pounders can carve sculptures for any theme or company logo. They have done demonstrations at six boat shows for the National Marine Manufacturers Association as well as sculpted a life-sized Jeep Wrangler for the cover of the 2001 Quadratec Catalog. In 2002, Sand Pounders coordinated team building exercises for over 2,500 students throughout Connecticut for the Department of Education, as well as for many major national corporations.

Sand sculpting is a performance art as well as disposable art. So the next time someone tells you to "go pound sand" accept it as an invitation to create a memorable, if temporary, work of art.

More about Master Sand Sculptors can be found at the Sons of the Beach Sand Castle website.
