Whether we buy sell or trade boxes, everyone wants to recieve their new collectible is undamaged condition. I have been sending and recieving cereal boxes for many years and have only had one shipment damaged and it was not because of careless packing. (Maybe it was a crazy postal worker....) A few extra precautions will make both parties very happy.
SHIPPING A SINGLE BOX...
- I have found that shipping one box via Post Office (PO)is the best way. Go to the PO and ask for a FREE Priority Mail box: actually ask for a few, they are great to have on hand. Wrap the box in bubble wrap, put in the box and fill with plastic peanuts or crumpled newspaper. Seal the ends and you have a securely wrapped package. Because it is a PO box it seems the postal employees don't want to damage their own box. Priorty Mail will cost $3 or $4 to send but it will get their in 2-3 days. If you use you own box to wrap and ship, use a sturdy box and PLEASE use those plastic peanuts. They help. If this is a trade transaction and both parties use Priority mail there will not be a difference in shipping costs. If you send the package out UPS (United Parcel Service) please overpack securely. The package gets handled by many, many people and the box is tossed around a lot. And remember to tape shut the package so there could not be any accidental openings.
SHIPPING MORE THAN ONE BOX...
- If you have 2 12 ounces boxes of cereal, they will both fit in the Priority Mail box that you get from the PO. If they are 18 ounces or bigger, it is best to use you own box. Using bubble wrap around each box and/or plenty of plastic peanuts should secure tour package. I have found that shipping more than 2 boxes is best and cheapest if sent out UPS. Again pack very securely. Also just in case, you may want to insure your package against damage. UPS has automatic insurance up to $100. If you send out 2 day air, it may cost a little more but it will get there without all the handling that could damage the box. And remember to tape the boxes shut securely so it doesn't accidentally open.
- How much you spend on shipping, obviously is up to you. But an extra dollar spent on your part will be appreciated by your recipient and will lead to more business because you were dependable enough to ship with care. Common sense should be used at all times. Think about how you would want to recieve the package you are sending. (THE GOLDEN RULE..?...Huh!)
- SAVE and RECYCLE the boxes, plastic peanuts, and bubble wrap you recieve..."It's a good thing!"................(sorry Martha Stewart)
