Participation of NA5DV in the 7th annual MUSEUM SHIPS WEEKEND EVENT on July 19-20, 2003.

NA5DV participated in the 7th Annual Worldwide Museum Ship's Weekend Event sponsored by the USS Cassin Young Radio Club on July 19th and 20th, 2003. We operated in the General Stores Keeper's Office and participated on both days operating on 20 and 40 meter cw and ssb. Six operators made a total of 408 contacts including ten museum ships. We invite Houston area amateur radio operators to assist in the operation of BTARS. Send an email to Frank Cooper at fxc@prodigy.net if you would like to participate in future events.

A special QSL card is available for stations contacting NA5DV. Please send a SASE to Frank Cooper, NA5DV Trustee, 4215 Ravine Drive, Friendswood, Texas 77546.

The six participating radio amateur operators are pictured below.

One of the more interesting 20 meter SSB contacts we had was with Ron, W9XS bicycle mobile, pedalling near Chicago. See his web page at http://w9xs.us/

Pictured is an album containing more than 150 QSL cards received from amateur stations across the US and Canada following the 2003 Museum Ships Weekend Event. A NA5DV QSL card has been sent in return to all senders who included a SASE. Excepted were several stations who did not include correct information about the time or date of their contact and cannot be located in the log. The album of QSL's will be exhibited at future events.
