3D Graphics, M.C.Cotter productions is expanding it's resources and research efforts in the area of Facial 3D animation. This research has produced new techniques in
Geometrical Facial Replication and Manipulative 3D Articulation. The image above represents some of the advances we have made.
While still in their initial stages, these techniques produce results that are far superior to conventional photo/planar graphics mapping. While appearing to represent
facial features of the human face, full geometry mapping produces inacurate and distorted surface features that are inconsistent with the subject geometry. While the
mapping may be matched during initial mapping stages, subsequent frames require changes in the geometry in order to attain the visual sense of movement . However,
this manipulation of the geometry causes the mapped graphic to now MORPH itself along with the changed geometry. In essence, the warping of the graphic has
now lack the realistic movements that are required.to provide truely accurate articulation in the speech patterns. It was found that a more direct, geometrical approach
was necessary to accomplish this. As a result, M. C. Cotter Productions has produced a new technique called " Indexed Zone Mapping". This new technique produces
more exact detailing of the Facial Geometry while also providing almost flawless movement of features and expression.
