Current and Proposed Electric Vehicle Alternatives
We All Know Why Development Of All Electric Vehicles Is So Important.
When we go to the gas station to fill up our cars, the price of gasoline is nothing less than staggering.
For the average American, it means sacrificing and going without things that we want for one particular thing that we need...GASOLINE!.
But we have no choice, do we? While oil companies are continuing to make ever increasing profits, we're being held upside down and
shaken for every dime that we have.
What are the current Electric Vehicle Alternatives?
Hybrid Electric Vehicles
There are a number of hybrid electric vehicles on the market today. The basic hybrid is an electric motor powered
vehicle with a small gasoline powered engine to generate power and charging electricity. They make claims of miles per gallon anywhere between
50 mpg to 70 or 80 mpg. BUT, do they really get that kind of mileage. For the most part, many of the vehicles are nothing more than glorified golf
carts made to look like a car. They're small, light weight, and relatively expensive for the purpose they serve. Are they safe to drive on our highways
with other vehicles? Well, I guess that's a matter of opinion. What they don't tell you is that they suffer from a number of problems. One is in the area
of environmental comfort. My questions have been where do they get heat for the interior. and how do they provide air conditioning? If you run the
air conditioner in a hybrid vehicle, I guarantee the miles per gallon will be seriously diminished. But the fact is, you're still buying gasoline at horrendous
prices.
Hydrogen Powered Vehicles
Here is an electric vehicle that even the United States Government is endorsing. Of course, they tell you that
it runs on hydrogen that is one of the most plentiful elements on the planet. Well...that's good news. At least we don't have to worry about supply.
But are they really telling you the truth about Hydrogen Technology. First, the hydrogen fuel cell that generates electricity is so expensive, I doubt
that the average American would be able to afford a fuel cell powered vehicle. Second, they are so technical and complicated, the average American
wouldn't be able to safely maintain the vehicle properly and I'm sure the government would come with some form of MANDITORY maintenance
procedures that would be expensive and annoying. Third, it takes three times as much hydrogen to produce the same amount of energy produced by
one gallon of gasoline. SO...instead of a 16 or 20 gallon gas tank you would need a 45 to 60 gallon hydrogen tank. Cars are so small now, WHERE
ARE THEY GOING TO PUT THE TANK? The last place I would want to sit in my car is on top of the hydrogen storage tank.
The most important points are producing hydrogen and safety. It takes a great deal of energy just to separate water
into it's oxygen and hydrogen components. Hydrogen is going to be expensive. It's going to take years to actually develop a working automotive
fuel cell. It's going to take longer to produce production plants and service stations so you can fuel your cars. Have you seen Hydrogen Stations being
built yet? Have you seen new companies springing up producing hydrogen? NO...to me this is just another way of appeasing the public into thinking
they're really working to help you. But we all know who's going to be CONTROLLING THE HYDROGEN, don't we? The OIl Companies. And, we all
know that they will continue to hold us upside down and shaking us for every dime that we have. One final question I have concerns backyard
mechanics. Do we have to worry about hacks doing unauthorized and dangerous maintenance on the fuel cells endangering other peoples lives?
I wouldn't want to be driving next to fuel cell vehicle that suddenly blows up like the Hindenburg because of a leak..
The Time To Develop These Systems Is NOW....!
The next time you go to the gas station and look at the gas prices on the pump think about this seriously.
We can go on paying through the nose with money we need to support our families or we can make a serious effort to turn to newer technologies.
We had better start working on all electric cars and technologies before the strangle hold of the major oil companies become a noose.
