When
it comes to location, I think Creation has the lock on the most beautiful
and awesome site for a festival. There's nothing quite like praising
God in the midst of his artwork.
The
festival is held each year on the Agape Farm which is nestled in between
two of Pennsylvania's mountain ranges in a town called Shirleysburg.
The contour of the main arena area serves as a natural amphitheater.
If you are camped on the hill, you get a nice view of the sun rising each
morning in the east. Every evening the sun sets over the mountain
to the left of the main stage. One of the most awesome sights to
me is the in the early evening when the sun is hanging over the mountain,
and the sky, for miles around as far as one can see, is bright blue without
a cloud. In that moment I can't help but think of all the times we
question where God is in this world and get an incredible sense that he
is right there and he is not about to leave. If you like an awesome
sunrise, I understand the view from the top of the left stage tower is
quite incredible. The only way to catch this view is to volunteer
to be a part of the stage tear down crew. (Thanks to Wm. C. Quanstrom
for the sunrise info)
As
you browse around this site, keep in mind that, as many festival goers
would probably agree, there is something more to Creation than just the
music or the speakers. It is difficult to explain or describe.
Many artists have come to the festival and said how they heard so much
about it and what they heard was indeed true. Michael W. Smith said
during his last appearance that he brought a friend with him because he
told the friend, "You have to see this, it's incredible."(loosely quoted).
When 60 to 70 thousand Christians come together on a farm, in the mountains
of Pennsylvania, amazing things happen. People who live along the
road to the farm can't help but sit out on their porch staring at the never-ending
stream of vehicles and wonder what brings them here. |
