"Reck" was a regular listener to our AM Underground shows. He was disabled in an accident, and called to rap often. We went out to meet him several times, and recently, his friend Joe found us at giantgene.com and e.mailed a request to "do something special" for Reck's 50th birthday. We dug up our old AM Underground tapes and thanks to Rich Levin, we were able to deidicate the show to Reck. You can hear it at www.pctalkweb.net. Just scroll down the page to locate it among many of our other programs. We were saddened by the news from Joe that Reck recently left us just after his birthday. He LOVED his music, and our shows. He was very much worth knowing.

It's time Terry went into the vaults again for some "true goodies." In this shot, Gene (who was Rick then), parties with old Philly friend Fabian in Hollywood. Teen magazines at the time were mostly black and white, and tons of Fabian and Frankie Avalon pics were everywhere. Later, Gene was voted "handomest DJ" in a poll by DiscoScene Magazine. Gene's first fan club (as Rick Roman) was started by Teen Magazine. They were truly fun times.

The www.soul-patrol.com East Coast Convention brought the stars out in full force. including the likes of Rio, the LA "Superstar of Soul" who we've just spent May of 2006 recording with, and husband Rox of Positive-Nuisance Productions, a great producer and musician who's played with the likes of Lenny Kravitz and Trenton D'Arbacy as well. Lot's of new projects from this dynamic duo coming soon, so stay tuned. An interview with Rio, Rox and Terry should be on www.soul-patrol.net soon. Tune in.

Giant Gene hosts Vince Montana Jr, and daughter Denise (Goody-Goody" star) on his Superstar Concert with Vince, which could be the first in his "History Of Disco" series. Son Jody, who wrote and produced the series as a teen, is also shown. Both wear "Montana" t-shirts, while Vince and Denise wear "Gene Arnold's Superstar Concert" shirts. Denise had a huge hit with "Number One DJ", which we were pleased to be a part of. In "The History Of Disco Part 1", our worldwide radio series, EARL YOUNG of THE TRAMMPS told me "I Started Disco!!!" The first disco song in his opinion was his "Where Do All The Happy People Go? (To The Disco). That song was released in 1971.
Today, Earl's drums (he also played on most of the great Vince Montana Jr. Philly Sound sessions and on the road with Stevie Wonder)are part of Microsoft's co-founder Paul Allen's Incredible Millenium Museum Exhibit in Seattle. The exhibit was moved to the New York Public Library, and items, (including www.disco-step-by-step.com) are now in TYhe Library Of Congress, which we are honored tyo be included in.) RJ (Ron Joseph) and I also had Disco TV shows in Philly at the time, with The Trammps, Gloria Gaynor, and so many more stopping by. We played "disco" long before it had a name.

Maury Muelheisen's sister, Mary, is writing a book about Maury's unique life and career as "The Man Behind Jim Croce". We didn't mention here that we know so much about Jim and Maury as they used to come on my radio show in 1970 and sit on the floor and play live for us. We became good friends, and the album Maury released on "Capitol" Records, "Gingerbreadd" was one of our listeners favorites. Unfortunately, it didn't get the airplay it deserved from other stations to make the charts big, so the pair later reversed roles with Maury playing for Jim. (Jim? He never once said HE and his wife sang while they were helping Maury.) All the great guitar riffs, some of the musical arrangements and the male voice in the background on Jim's now timeless hits are Maury....just so you know!!!This MIGHT be the last known photo of the incomparable late great Jim and Maury boarding the plane they crashed and died in. (A listener sent us this pic ages ago and said it was, but Mary doesn't think it was that fateful flight.)They were a a team made in "Gingerbreadd" and will forever leave us dialing the "Operator" to try to save "Time In A Bottle" so that you can meet "Big, Bad LeeRoy Brown," once you've learned that you "Don't Mess Around With Jim.!" Listen to learn what "Gingerbreadd" is. Jim Croce was possibly the most unique and diverse person I've EVER met or worked with. His talents to capture the "reality" of situations and put them to song so that others can "feel" them are unmatched today. "I've got those steadily depressing, mind messing, workin' at the car wash Blues!" say's it ALL! Thank you Jim (and Maury for all your love and contributions to those great songs). Rest in Peace.

In the military? We dedicate our shows to YOU, and especially to Anthony, Colonel Niles, and all of our good friends in the 228th Forward Support Battalion Army Reserve Unit. Just imagine if "The King" sang some of Jim Croce's great and timeless songs..Ingrid, (Jim's wife) does. "Photograph's and Memories" comes to mind, as do so many of Jim's great songs. If you love Elvis, AND America, you MUST have Lee Roy Brown's INCREDIBLE Elvis Sketchbook. Also, don't forget Elvis' full 2 years of Military service in Germany and always remember our Military members today, and the tough job they face daily in protecting us. Thank you all. Go to www.leeroybrown.com to see his Elvis Sketchbook and order one. We honored the 25th Anniversary of The Big E's death with a very special show, and with Kay Wheeler's Memories Of Elvis" Special. No more Elvis...no more Sinatra, Maurice Gibbs, Milton Berle, Dudley Moore, Marylyn, or the most of the TRUE GREAT'S
of our time. Well, thankfully, there's Little Bow Wow! "Who Let The Dogs Out", anyway? (A question from your loyal webmaster, Dazy, ((The Cat))!! (Ed Note: Dazy is now in "Cat Heaven" but his credit has been left on in his honor.)
