Giant Gene Arnold's Soul-Patrol.com Friends and Stars

LA LA MEANS WE LOVE YA" WIL..but 'HEY LOVE MEANS WE REALLY DO!! Gene is shown here with Wil Hart Of THE DELPHONICS, at the Soul-Patrol Convention July 19th, where Gene presented Wil with membership in his DISCO HALL OF FAME! If you ever slow-jammed to any of the Delphonics great music, you enjoyed the OTHER side of disco...romance. at a recent Soul-Patrol Event. I will NEVER forget how great the Delfonics were (and the REAL Wil Hart still is) as performers. They did a record hop for me when "La La Means I Love You" was Number One...where someone accidently pulled the turntable plug, and Wil and the guys just slowed right down with the turntable. Mark Zibman, a young hop-goer, immediately found the plug and Pookie and the guys just speeded up back to 45..Mark became my assistant after that, and the guys went on to international stardom. You can't feel love without feeling the Delfonics, and Major Harris..."Love Won't Let Me Wait." Of course, Wil wrote the great "Hey Love"...an international slow-jam favorite. We gave him his "History of Disco Hall Of Fame" award at the 2003 Soul-Patrol Convention on July 19th. Lot's of West Philly here, gang, with Thom Bell writing and producing, and beginning to build the "philly sound, with Vince Montana jr. again a mighty part of the music." THANK YOU for these timeless songs. Check out Wil's biography; song samples, and new pics. Buy new CD's of the Delfonics at http://www.iuma.com/IUMA/Bands/Wil_Hart_And_The_Delphonics/

BOB DAVIS, creator of Soul-Patrol,organized the African Heritage Festival in May of 2006. Bob and brother Mike have nourished the site into the largest "Black Music History" site in the world. You can hear examples of every type of soul from "old-school" to the very latest sounds from those establishing "New Music" along with interviews with many soul legends. We're very proud of Bob's accomplishments, which include writing and music reviews for many publications, and pleased to be among those you can hear on www.soul-patrol.net radio, the internets largest source of great soul music...period! A University Of Pittsburgh grad, the Brooklyn native is now on that college's Alumni board and is attempting to create scholarships and guidance to young minority students. Brother Mike is the technical wizard of the soul-patrol.com team, and has a daily newsletter you can subsribe to free at www.soul-patrol.com.

Speaking of great "Philly Soul", "I'll Always Love My Mama", and "Cowboys To Girls" "I Wanna Know Your Name", and all the "slice-of-life" things the INCREDIBLE INTRUDERS sang about so perfectly make them one of our favorites. "When We Get Married", is a classic, as are so many of the great Gamble and Huff sounds the group went on to record. Started out hard on Neptune records, and grew and GREW thankfully into worldwide stars, and a big part of the early "Sounds Of Philly". Glenn and the gang STILL sound awesome, and again, you can buy their CD's at www.phillysounds.com, Billy Pauls new site.
By the way gang, Gene just inserted a tape of his mother in the middle of "I'll Always Love My Mamma' for a "SOUL-PATROL" edition of "The Sounds Of Philly" on Bob and Mike Davis' great www.soul-patrol.com. Gene encourages EVERYBODY to grab a cassette recorder, and have your mom or grandmom tell their life's story to pass on to all of your children and family members. It's especially welcome when they are gone, and you can hear their voice again..(as if you didn't hear it in your mind every day as an adult when you were about to stray from the "righteous path" they put us on.

Rio is one of the most talented female vocalists and entertainers you could ever meet, and is "family" to us along with hubby producer Rox. Her new single. "Da Real Thang", is on the new virtual CD at soul-patrol.com. We first met at the Soul-Patrol Convention in 2004, and have been close ever since. We make our LA headquarters with Rio, Rox, Roxanne, and Garbo..(the two dogs pictured elsewhere in this scrapbook). Gene, Terry and Bob Davis, Founder of www.Soul-Patrol.com get together and discuss current events fairly often We rrecently attended a "Listening Party" for the new soul-patrol "virtual CD" that was Bob's brainchild. 50 great new songs by SP stars. He also has an R&B station on www.radioio, 24 hours on non-stop soul. For the virtual CD, go to www.soul-patrol.com to buy it. It is awesome. At one of the conventions I got the chance to repeat our performance on "You're My Number One DJ" live with DENISE MONTANA, (who was Goody-Goody on that song.) She was wonderful, as usual, and is now BLONDE!! Watch it, guys!Everyone wanted to dance with Terry and this is the perfect place to thank you all for the great e.mails you sent mentioning that "She's The Greatest Dancer."
There's a LOT more "soul" to "soul-patrol.com than 'Ain't NO Stoppin Us Now", a great hit in the Disco's, and again for the Eagles, Phillies and Sixers with the great re-mixes of the McFadden and Whitehead's standard (featured on Show #7 at www.giantgene.com). They are dancing to "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now" in Heaven, entertaining all of the Soul Stars we have lost in the past few years..Luther, James Brown, et. al.

The O'Jay's are Giant Gene's guest DJ's on their "Sound's Of Philly" Superstar Concert. Here, Eddie, Walter and Sammy laugh it up as Gene is shocked when Eddie chooses the name of "The Devil" for his "late night" version of "You're My Darlin' Darlin' Baby." Yes, Vince Montana was on that session too. The O'Jay's show is in the "Top 30" at www.Soul-Patrol.net radio. Sammy still looks the same if you have checked out his picture with Gene and Little Anthony with Gil Saunders on the first page of the scrapbook at the VERY bottom of the page.

The G R E A T Gil Saunders won the job as lead singer for Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes after a worldwide search to replace the injured (and still awesome) Teddy Pendergrass. Gil travelled the world with the group, and now, is on his own. His website is at www.heartfeltpro.com, and a new CD should be ready soon, working with manager Paula Lombardi to develop the finished product.

"Me and Mr. Paul" can go back as far as the Cadillac Club. Always a "class-act", and more broad-based talent than most, it took time, but sticking it out, and working with the great Gamble and Huff helped make him HAPPEN. Billy Paul now also runs a management company featuring some of your all-time Philly favorites.. He's STILL an awesome showman, great entertainer, and we are PROUD he's a Philadelphian, our friend, AND A GRAMMY-AWARD WINNER! Billy recently did an interview with Gene describing his new Jazz career, and what it was like to be in Algeria on September 8, 2001. It's a MUST HEAR!! Billy, Terry and Gene also discussed their long-time marriages, (rare for the entertainment industry) and pointed out there's no "Mrs. Jones" when there's such long-time love and trust in life and business together. Blanche and Billy celebrate their 36th year, while Gene and Terry have clocked 41. Learn more about Billy and his current happenings at www.phillysounds.com Billy sang "Me and Mrs. Jones" live for us on Soul-Patrol.net radio and our "Sounds Of Philly" listeners worldwide, and sounds BETTER than ever.
