Sweet and Spicy Rose
2 cups dried cedar tips
2 cups rose petals
12 1-inch cinnamon stix
1/2 cup whole cloves
1 cup star anise
1 cup hemlock cones
1/2 cup juniper berries
1/3 oz rose oil
1/3 oz cinnamon oil
Spicy Blend
1/4 cup orange peel
1/4 cup broken cinnamon stick
1/4 cup whole cloves
1/4 cup whole allspice
1/4 cup lemon verbena
10 broken bay leaves
Mix all in large bowl
Spicy Lemon Verbena
1/2 cup lemon verbena
1/4 cup calendula
1/8 cup cinnamon
1/4 tbsp cloves
1/4 tbsp orris root mixed with 5 drops lemon oil
Wild Flower Fields
1/4 cup elder flowers
1/4 cup chamomile flowers
1/4 cup uva ursi
1/2 cup calendula
2 tbls dried orris root mixed with 2 drops lavender oil
After Potpourri is made and dried,
add 6 drops of your favorite essential oil to every cup
of dried potpourri mix. Keep it in a closed container for
a few weeks to allow scent to penetrate plant material.
Stir the mixture daily.
Orris root helps to preserve the fragrance of the herbs
and flowers, it has little scent of its own so it is a
good base to use in your potpourri mix.
* Use 2 tablespoons of the dried orris root per cup of
dried potpourri mix.
When your potpourri's start to lose their smell,
just refresh the mix with essential oils.
