The books and other materials
listed here were the basis for much of what is found in my Devoe-deVaux
Family History 1691-1991 (2000) and they are listed in its Bibliography.
They are also thus sources for the greater part of the historical data found on
this Acadian Grandfathers
website. Those items listed in BOLD are in my personal library. This
listing should not only provide insight with respect to my research, but as
well provide a suggested reading list for those interested in Acadian and
Canadian history and genealogy. While many of the books are long out of print a
great number are available in libraries and in used bookstores. The list is
alphabetical by author and begins with books or articles
from periodicals, followed by my collection of genealogical periodicals and
other materials. A RED * following a description indicates
a particularly noteworthy holding of mine, for either its rarity and/or its
superb content. A few recent additions to my library might be included at the
end of these listings. JBD
