Tale of Gyrfalcon

So you're curious about who or what the Gyfalcon is? All right, I'll give you a short tale and some information about me.

Long ago, when the Internet was new, and graphical interfaces hadn't been invented, I, and a few others, played on that playground. We all had nicknames. Mine was taken from a vision quest I had undergone. In that vision, my spirit guide was a gyrfalcon. That name has followed me in all my Internet lives no matter what system I was on. When I became a member of Prodigy, there were no names, yet in my signature on the bulletin boards, I was known as Gyrfalcon. That name then became my nickname in Chat. It joined me in IRC, as part of Delphi, in my short time on AOHell, and it is still on Prodigy Internet.

During my time on both Delphi and Prodigy Classic, I became involved with fans of The X-Files. On Prodigy, I met many that became dear to me. Some to this day continue to be my friends. Others have unfortunately drifted away, and a couple have earned my enmity due to their cowardly and base betrayals of my trust and friendship. In my life, I have been used and abused, by parents, lovers, friends, and their actions drive much of who I am to this day.

With me, loyalty and love are never ending. Once I pledge both, they are dedicated to those it was given to. Even when betrayed, those remain, just overshadowed by the pain. The worse thing, to me, is to find that what I freely gave, is not only not returned, but is used against me. To betray my trust, is to rip my soul apart. So now my trust is rarely given. Love and trust are like electric current in a battery. What is given out, has to be given back to recharge the battery. My battery of life it about dry, too many have taken, not given in return, and left me with nothing more to give.

So now, my life is filled with only the love of a few distant friends, distant in mileage, but close in heart. Many times, they or I, are quiet for too long, but they still are dear to my heart. Some of my family is the same way. My brother and his family are distant in mileage, and that hurts due to not seeing him or his daughters. I have one sister, and she has given me a gift beyond compare, her daughters. There are three of them, all close to my heart. They help fill the space inside that has been empty for too long. My eldest two nieces are dear friends as well as family. My one niece is the closest I'll ever have to a child. So on them, yes, I dote extremely.

In this mundane existence, I started work as a Medical Technologist. I spent seventeen and a half long years working for the same hospital in Northwest Indiana before their political crap forced my change in profession. So when cut adrift, I turned my 'toy' and 'play' of being on the computer into a new career. I procured my Novell IntranetWare Administrator's certification, and then proceeded not to use it. Instead, I went to work for a telecommunications call accounting software/hardware company where I am a Technical Support Specialist.

In interests, my life is as it has been since I was a young teen. I love music, but I don't play, nor do I read music. Musically, my tastes are still heavily classical, heavy metal, new-age, and world, but I like most other music except rap, country (which I hate with a passion), and many operatic pieces, though some I not only know, but love.

Reading is another love of my life. It has always been science fiction and fantasy. My favorite author since childhood is Andre Norton and I always dreamed about passing into the realm of the Witch World. I started writing in those genres when a teen, and still do to this day. Visit HawkeCrystal's tower to see my latest in the world of Gundam Wing.

My viewing of movies and television are close to that of what I read with the addition of collecting and loving Japanese anime. To me, those tales have always drawn more interesting characterizations and stories than anything that the West has ever attempted to put out.

If you're still with me, you deserve congratulations. Religiously, I'm a Eclectic Pagan. I started searching when a teen, and at one time or another, I've been most of the more popular religions before I became Celtic Wiccan. I then took the knowledge gathered from all those years of searching, and incorporated it into a religious view that has Wiccan roots and yet acknowledges teachings from most of the paths of light.

To finish this, all that remains is my favorite color is midnight blue. I love rain and thunderstorms, fog, and cool autumn weather. I was born a Leo in the month of August. My favorite food is anything with pasta and tomato sauce. I also love cats and am owned by two at this time.

So there you have what I'm willing to share with you if you've looked into this part of the void. Peace be with you.
