Hello fellow scouts, parents, relatives, and friends. We are the Tiger Cubs of Pack 416 in Gainesville, Florida. Being Tiger Cubs, we ( and our parents ) are very new at this. We are looking forward to learning about scouting, our community, our families, and ourselves. We have already had our first camping trip as a pack and our looking forward to camping togerther as a Den. Soon we will graduate to Wolf Cubs, but we will always remember to apply the Tiger Cub Motto :
Well, Scout Blast was a blast. After pitching tents Friday night the kids toured the outdoor aircraft display and then went swimming with Lisa B and Hal in the huge indoor pool until 8:00 p.m. Then it was dinner (and Pokemon) and lights out at 11:00. It was a cool breazy evening in our little pine grove. Perfect.
Saturday Morning dawned early with a power breakfast followed by a nice parade. Then it was off to the festivities. The Tigers all won ribbons and patches at the "Tiger Olympics" and tried their hands ( and arms and backs) at archery where they again rec'd patches to add to their growing collections. They rode soapbox derby cars, and visited the booths and displays and explored helicoptors, amphibeous vehicles, and other aircraft. They watched skateboard and motorcross bike demonstrations before retreating to the outdoor swimming pool for some cool fun. Then it was back to the camp for dinner, bubbles (thanks Lisa) and space-age-football-thing(thanks Mike).
Next we marched back to the airstrip for some R&R (that's military speak for "Rockets" and "Red Glare" ) as we watched a fireworks display. Then it was time to tell jokes and stories under the spotlight before retiring for another delightful night's sleep (interrupted only by the occasional train whistle and aircraft bombing run).
Sunday's Dawn's Early Light came in around 6:30. We had a final meal together and then broke camp.
Mason, Michael, Miles, and Brandon all attended Scout Blast this year making Den 5 ( and thereby Pack 416) the best attending den and pack in the district ! We were joined by the Smiths, the Petersons, and the Austins from Pack 416, and folk from other Alachua District Packs.

Thanks everyone for attending the Manatee Springs campout. I know the kids had a great time, and that's the most important thing. I did want to update everyone on what happened on Sunday after we broke camp:
1) Mason swam with a manatee. Lisa will be forwarding digitalized pictures ( which I will post ) soon.
2) Michael caught a very large bluegill ( larger than any I've ever caught ).
3) We found a few ticks. We will be applying said ticks for our "Deertick Patch" which I will immediately lobby the BSA to create.
Final Returns :
Another reminder : The May pack meeting will be a combination graduation and raingutter regatta. The regatta kits are in stock at Brasingtons. At graduation, each boy will advance to Wolf rank , receive a Wolf book, and hopefully their marbles belt loop. The Pack meeting will begin at 6:30 on the covered basketball court behind Chiles Elementary School. The fun occurs on Thursday , May 31.
