By reconciling all things to Himself, God proves the irresistible power of His
love. When I consider the idea of eternal judgement, I envision a multitude of
rebellious souls, damned, to be sure, but there, in the midst of the flames,
they have the one small joy of being able to shake their fists at God and say,
"We Won! You couldn't do it! We knew it all along!" So, in this view, God is
less than totally victorious. He lacked the foresight to see that His plan
would cause the irreparable loss of so many souls. Or He lacked the power to
create some different way. Or He lacked the love to be concerned to begin with.
But this contradicts God's character. He is all-seeing, all-powerful, and
all-loving. And
ALL VICTORIOUS!
This age, and all the ages to come, flow in a circle, starting with God, and ending with God. We read in the book of John: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." John 1:1-3 And from the book of Isaiah: "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." Isaiah 55:11 God's Word went forth and created everything. God's Word will return to Him, accomplishing everything He intended!
