(to fever)It's not your first time? Fever: Third or fourth. MP: Cause you were here with Urge Overkill last time? Fever: Yes MP: I wasn't sure but when you came in I said I know that guy. You like Montreal? Fever: Yah I love it here. MP: Cool ( to Mark) That's your first time here? Mark: No nous performer avec Suede ( No, we performed with Suede) MP: Mais c'est la premiere fois a Musique Plus ( But that's your first time in Musique Plus?) Mark: Oui Oui c'est la premier temps ( yes that's the first time) MP: Mais c'est bien ton francais. J'apprecie beaucoup l'effort (Your french is good. I like the effort) Mark: C'est tres difficile.(It's really hard) MP: Pourquoi parles-tu francais?Comment as-tu aprris a Parler francais?(Why do you speak french?How did you learn it?) Mark: Ma femme est francais.(My wife is French) MP: Donc elle te donne des lecons privees? ( so she gives you private lessons?) Mark: Oui Oui (yes) MP: So who can say that there's two new member in the group? Mark: Gus sur la batterie ( Gus on drums) MP to Gus: Did you know Catherine before? Have you heard the first album before? Gus: I first heard them when they were working on this record (HS&BS) I was in a system enginer while they made this album. MP to Fever: Did you know Catherine before. Fever: No.Well I knew Keith from Calfornia. But D'arcy from the Smashing Pumpkins introduced me to everybody. MP: When did that happen? Fever: When I was in Rio last year. MP: Talking about this album, you guys learned a lot of things I guess, doing the first album, so much that you were able to produce the album and get more and more involved. Talk to me about it please. Mark: We built the recording studio sur la ferme de Kerry (On Kerry's farm.) MP: That's a cool way to work. Isn't it? Mark: Oui oui ( yes ) Kerry: What did you just say? Mark: we built the studio on your farm. Kerry: Oh! Mark: No limitations for le temps de travail. ( There's no limitation on the time we want to work.) MP: C,est plus plaisant. Est-que c'est plus plaisant, plus decontracte de travailler sur une ambiance de ferme que dans un studio? ( Is it more fun to work on a farm ambiance that a studio?) Mark: Oui Oui ( yes ) MP: Would you do that again? Mark: Oui Oui ( yes ) [performance of It's Gonna Get Worse] [performance of Make Me Smile] MP: Thank you. I want to talk about the rythm section, cause I hear good music here. Thank you by the way. Have you always have 2 drums? Keith: No we just sorta did that on the last album we did.That would just be drums and bass. MP: How would you discribe what it brings to the music? Keith: I think it brings... MP: Chaos? Keith: yes Mark: Chaos, a lot of alcohol abuse... MP: And two brothers in the same rythm section I guess it brings some kind of a team spirit. Does it? Keith: We hate each other , so I dunno, maybe. Hopefully it comes to the music, but we dislike each other a lot. We are on the Oasis thing. MP to Fever: according to you what does it bring to the music to have two brothers in the same rythm section? Fever: Oh I love it. Two more to tease. MP: And what does a female voice brings to a rock n roll song like you did for 4 leaf clover? Why was it important for you guys to have D'arcy's voice on one of your songs? Mark: La chanson est plus interresse avec le chanteur femme. (the song is more interessting with a female voice.) MP to Kerry: According to you? Kerry: I'm sorry I can't.. MP: I was wondering what does a female voice bring to a rock n roll song? Kerry: Well, I think, tunely. Just the register of a female voice, well at least the one that we used is something that we couldn't achieve with the register that this guys have. I was looking for something without using artificial terms like you could do with machines. But it still doesn't sound. It's awful enough for me. MP: Interresting. Thank you very much.
