Learn to Layer from GORP. The trick to layering is to combine the right clothing in the proper order, trapping the air warmed by your body heat while letting moisture vapor from your body's perspiration be conducted away from your skin. The choice of garments must be versatile enough to adapt to your activity level and variations in weather conditions—maintaining the delicate balance of staying cool when active and warm when at rest. Kalaulau Trail - Kauai, Hawaii
The beauty of Kauai is epitomized by the 11 miles that composes the
Kalalau
Trail. The long trek in is, by far, one of the best hikes available
in Hawaii.
The trail is, without a doubt, an awesome experience for the beginning
or experienced hiker. If you are a beginner, then it behooves you to
talk to someone with experience or to read as many reviews as you can.
You should be in shape. If you are an experienced hiker, plan on enough
days and nights to truly enjoy the trail. The State of Hawaii Department
of Land & Natural Resources limits your stay to five days. If you can,
maximize your stay by planning for all five days.

Pacific Crest Trail - Western U.S.
Zigzagging it's way from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon
and Washington the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) boasts the greatest
elevation changes of any of America's National Scenic Trails, allowing
it to pass through six out of seven of North America's eco-zones
including high and low desert, old-growth forest and artic-alpine
country. Indeed, the PCT is a trail of diversity and extremes. From
scorching desert valleys in Southern California to rain forests in the
Pacific Northwest, the PCT offers hikers and equestrians a unique,
varied experience.

About
Socks: Let's get you started on the right foot. Walking depends on
foot health. If you plan to walk in cotton socks... don't! Wendy
Bumgardner, of About Walking,
fills us in.... Space age fibers. Antibacterial! Antifungal! Shock
absorbing! Wicking action! Antifriction! Battle shearing forces! Who
would of thought the lowly sock worthy of such hyperbole? Many of us
just throw on a pair of cotton crew socks, lace up the shoes and hit the
trail. Some of us are bold enough to wear nylons or even go sock-less in
our shoes or sandals. Ah, but sock technology is catching up. They
promise to keep sweaty feet dry, prevent blisters, reduce fatigue, and
control temperature.
