Walking Tours and Vacations

Walking Adventures International
Walking Adventures International provides travel programs that combine worldwide travel with recreational walking. They invite you to get off the bus, stretch the kinks out of your legs, and experience healthy travel itineraries that blend walking with historic, cultural, and scenic highlights.

Their Adventures are fast-paced overview programs designed to introduce travelers to as much of a region's significant highlights as they can manage without wearing you to a frazzle. Their travelers consistently tell them that they show them fascinating places they don't think "regular tourists" would ever see and that they see more than they would ever have imagined possible in the time they are "out on the trail."

Many of their tours offer IVV or volkssport credit to the walkers which is an added plus. Many friends have traveled with them and have provided great photos and rave reviews. Their tours are well-planned, are guided by experienced and very nice tour guides and it's a great way to see the world... one step at a time!

Tater Tours
Tater Tours focuses on bus tours for walkers all across the United States. Tours are geared toward Volkssport events but any walker would enjoy Mary's tours.

Tater  Tours was started in 1994 as a part time business for Mary Ptacek.  Why the name you ask?  In her military days everyone had a hard time pronouncing her last name and her fellow co-workers called her “Potato Chip”.  And now you know how she thought of her business name!  She is “Head Tater” and her customers are her “Tater Tots”!

What started out being just van trips to walks in Philadelphia, turned into three day bus trips to New York, that lead to two week bus trips to the AVA Conventions. She likes to incorporate sightseeing in with the walking also.

In 1996, she pursued her dreams and the business became her full-time employment.  She lived in Maryland for 17 years and was very active in the local walking clubs. She decided to expand her business by moving to Las Vegas, Nevada. (The land of paradise, lights, and gambling!)

Mary is known for being well-organized and her trips are very reasonably priced. They are great fun and provide a wonderful way to travel the US.
