HILLIS - HILLHOUSE Surname DNA Project

Includes all spellings... Hillis, Hilles, Hillas, Hiles, Hyles, Hellis, Helles, Hillhouse, Hilhouse, Hillhaus, Hilhaus, Hylhouse, Hylhaus, etc.

I have established a DNA project for the HILLIS & HILLHOUSE Surname (all spellings) at DNA Heritage, in hopes of finding out which of the various HILLIS & HILLHOUSE lines are related to us! We have not discovered who our Andrew "Jackson" HILLIS' [b- 1815/17] parents were, to date. Hopefully, this will help us find out who he was related to... We suspect he was a descendent of Samuel HILLIS/HILLHOUSE & Ann LUCKIE, but have been unable to prove it, to date.
The DNA needed for this study, virtually remains unchanged from father to son, for generations! It is not the same DNA used in medical fields, so there is no worry about insurance questionables. You must be a male, with the HILLIS or HILLHOUSE surname. Any known adoption of the male line, will make the person ineligible for this study. It must be a direct father to son lineage.
DNA Heritage will provide sample kits, which are discounted when done within our dna surname project, invoiced when the sample is returned. It is a 23 marker test, and is a simple mouth swab, done in the privacy of your own home.
The more people involved in this study will create a better database in finding out who is related to which lines. As many of you may know already, there is a large HILLIS - HILLHOUSE presence in Tennessee and Arkansas, and many in Texas, too.

Please help us connect our family lines. For more information on the subject, check out the various DNA websites online, altho the one we are using is DNA Heritage. We only require the 23 marker test for our study, altho they test the complete 40 markers. If you decide later that you would like the results of the remaining markers, you can purchase those for an additional fee.
If you would like to donate monies (any amount) to help others afford the dna test, you may do so below. It will go into a fund to help pay the cost, for others who may not be able to afford one.
These funds will only be used specifically for the HILLIS-HILLHOUSE Surname DNA project, and will be pooled until there is enough to pay for a test. Donations are paid thru PayPal, and we appreciate all the help, whether it is large or small!
