Christian Engineers and Scientists in Technology of the American Scientific Affiliation invite abstracts to our symposium at the 2001 ASA Annual Meeting at Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS, 20-23 July, 2001. Papers in keeping with the CEST objective are desired:

"To investigate the scientific, technical and other aspects of technology and, in particular, specific technologies or applications of such technologies when there is a perceived benefit to ASA for such investigations. The objective would be to establish the morals and ethical aspects of such technologies so as to permit assessment from a Christian viewpoint on the desirability of such technologies."

The symposium serves as a means of advertising for CEST, and a means to learn of the valuable thinking and experience of our Christian colleagues as we labor alongside eachother.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

- the impact of technologies on Christians/Christianity,

Submissions to the CEST symposium will be reviewed for appropriateness of topic and quality of scholarship. Papers should be based on work in your area of expertise; where this is not obvious you may be asked to provide suitable documentation. Authors need not be ASA members to present. While we expect mostly platform presentations (20 mins), posters are also welcome.

Further information on the ASA meeting, as well as a program response form, are available on the ASA website at:

Abstracts are due to the ASA office on 10 January.

I hope many of you will submit abstracts and join us in Manhattan in July. We are anticipating a very high-quality meeting--come be a part of it!
