This is a shipwreck called Theo's wreck. It was my first warm water wreck dive. I was amazed that I could see the entire wreck from the surface. All of my previous wreck dives had been off the coast of New Jersey or in a quarry in Pennsylvania where it's not uncommon to bump into the wreck before you see it. |
This is also Theo's wreck. The wreck sits on the bottom at about 100 feet deep. A few years after I was there I saw a special on TV about a guy who wanted to set a new freediving record. I watched him casually swim down to this wreck and swim all the way around it with nothing more than a mask and fins (no scuba equipment). I was impressed. |
This picture was taken on my first dive trip. It really wasn't planned as a dive trip. The diving was more of an afterthought. I had no intention of doing a shark dive but it happened to be the only available dive that afternoon (I was hoping that someone scheduled for the dolphin dive wouldn't show up, no such luck). It was shark dive or no dive. Of course I had to rent a camera or no one would have believed me. |
I've done quite a bit of diving since that first trip but I still haven't had an opportunity for a better shark picture than this one. I don't think I need to be any closer than this anyway. Do you? |
