Rock Climbing

The first question most people ask about rock climbing is: Why? I don't have a good answer for that. For me it's challenging. It's very physical, but it's also mental and emotional. Puzzle solving skills are very helpful. The emotional part involves no fear, or as I like to say "KNOW FEAR". Anyone who says they have no fear is either lying or very stupid.

I don't have many climbing pictures. I have a hard enough time carrying all of the equipment needed for climbing without having to worry about carrying a camera too. This picture for instance isn't even one of the routes that we climbed. It just happen to be right next to the one we were climbing and I thought it would make a good picture. This is in the Shawangunk mountains in New York, more commonly known to climbers as "The Gunks".

This picture was taken by my climbing partner. I know it's hard to tell but this is looking almost straight up. In the actual photo you can see my head peeking out from over one of the ledges amongst the trees but it's really hard to make out in this image.

Some of these pictures actually don't look bad, but they don't seem to scan well. Here are some pictures of Ralph Stover State Park. This particular route is known as Phone Booth.
