background Wishard argues "If we are going to have a workable global age, it can not be simply a mechanical process. It must be a human process, a psychological process, a spiritual process, a process of deepening consciousness and increasing sensitivity to other people and cultures." Much work is already underway. Corporations are restructuring the way they work in order to become more humanistic. Social plans such as the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) are easing the load on legal systems. Furthermore, charities and civic organizations are covering functions previously taken on only by local governments. Currently, over half of American adults donate some time to non-profit efforts. |
