American Stories: The Movie

American Stories is a feature-length comedy written and directed by Akron, OH native Rob Lucas. The project began in 2002 as a graduate school project, but the script sat on the shelf until Lucas began teaching at the University of Akron in 2004. Produced by the UA student and alumni organization the 2380 Project, production began in January 2005 and wrapped March 2006.

American Stories was shot entirely in Northeast Ohio with a mostly student-based crew. The soundtrack features music from local bands, including Mike St. Jude and Valentines, the Lords of the Highway, and the Twilight with original music by Ben Gmetro (The Dreadful Yawns, Volta Sound, and the Afternoon Naps).

American Stories made its premiere at the Akron Independent Film and Video Festival in April 2006. It is currently available on DVD through this Website.
