The Wadfather
Yes, it is true, I have completed
my first feature length screenplay, The Wadfather. While
I can't give you the whole plot I will give you a few tid bits:
Van is a student filmmaker who drops out of USC because the other
students are art snobs. After working at a video tape packaging
plant he is offered the director's chair on an adult film based
off of The
Godfather titled The Wadfather.
After shooting the project one of the actresses is found murdered
and all of the cast and crew have become suspects. There you go,
chew on that for a while. I am sorry to all those who may be offended
(Mom, Dad, Grandparents) by the fact that I have placed this situation
in the adult film world, things just work out that way. You would
find out someday. Ric Malardi, ex-member of the band The
Nimrods, has been cast to play Big Papa
Floyd, but all other parts are still open. I am also looking for
people to help out behind the camera, so please let me know if
you are interested. Our cinematic journey will begin in mid-May
and may run until early August. Be on the lookout for updates.
A Portrait of an Artist
as the Wrong Man
Rich Jones, one of the Chi Energy 2 musicians,
has just recently completed his first screenplay and I have been
asked to direct. Jones is a writer for SCTV and has cast all of
the parts for this 20-25 minute short. We will be shooting on
DVCAM and will edit on Ja-cas! new non-linear system. This is
a tale about a young man named Sebastian who is fed up with his
girlfriend Caroline. In his journey of self reflection he meets
Satan, his non-genderous soul mate and Flint, a guy who is way
too cool for his own good. Shooting will begin in early May and
the whole project should be completed by the middle of the summer.
Untitled Ghost Documentary
The documentary is entering its final stages. Production should
be finished by the end of February.
Steve Barker, a filmmaker
from Akron, and I are putting together a short documentary about
haunted houses. Now, I don't mean the type you pay to walk around
in on Halloween. I am talking about the "real thing."
Have you ever thought that your house was haunted? Even as a kid?
That is sort of what I am aiming at. There are real people out
there who claim that they can see the souls of the dead. There
are others who can speak to them telepathically. Some build equipment
to hunt these ghosts. The best part about these people is that
they live next door to you, they shop in the same stores as you
and they even go to the same church as you.
Ohio is chock full of psychics,
clairvoyants, transdimentional communicators and more. There are
so many of these people in their own subculture that they are
the perfect subjects for a documentary.
Do you have any ghost stories?
Have or know a friend who owns a haunted house? Please let me
know.

Waiting For Truffaut (1999-2000)
Montezuma's Revenge
(1997-1998)
The Big Night
(2001)
The Brian Winterrowd Movie (1998-1999) My good brother Brian
Winterrowd had several short film ideas that really didn't
interrelate. This project was done on the spur of the moment.
We grabbed a video camera, gave the actors a general idea of what
to do and let them have at it. The whole this was done with a
hand held video camera and available lighting. Some of the shots
were done on the first take and some of them were redone up to
20 times just to get what we wanted. Most of the sketches have
little to no story, but they all involve doughnuts. Although I
almost never show this one to people, it has some of the best
videography I have ever done. I you are one of the lucky few who
do see it, expect to see people running around naked in public
parks, tree hugging, candy sprinkle roads, Jello puppets, jolly
green giants and cooter bug infested afros. The soundtrack includes
music (used by permission) by bands such as The Apples in Stereo, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Marbles
and Rocket Ship.
Eric's Dream Girl (1998) Eric's Dream Girl is
a three minute silent short that I shot for Media Production Techniques
at The University
of Akron. It is the boiled down version of what later became
Waiting For Truffaut. Eric is a
lonely soul who sits around reading on sidewalks. A lovely young
lady passes by and realizes that this is his chance to meet someone
new. When he follows her around a corner, she mysteriously disappears.
Later that night she appears in a dream and kisses him. Eric wakes
up to realize that it was only part of his elaborate imagination
and hangs his head, knowing that such a perfect girl can only
exist in his mind.

Mantis Women From Planet X (????):
A B+W Super 8 parody of old sci-fi films. I always loved the look
of old Roger
Corman movies. They were so cheap, yet so much fun. This film
is supposed to capture that cinema magic and make fun of it. A
race of half women, half preying mantis' come to invade earth.
Their only mission is to mate with human males and, as all female
praying mantis' do, consume their partner's head after the deed
is done. The rough draft of the script has been done for quite
some time now, but the cost of shooting the overall project would
be astronomical. Some of the space craft designs may end up on
this page sometime in the future and with photos of the models
that were built.
