MIDDLETON RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS

  • As an avid genealogist, I have been compiling family history on the Middletons since 1993.
  • For information on publications for sale at this time. Click Middleton and information at the top of the homepage.

WHO WERE YOUR MIDDLETON FOREFATHERS? Presently, my research indicates that the Middletons had their beginnings in the colonies of Virginia, South Carolina, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The majoirty of the large Middleton clans who settled in the colonies of Virginia, South Carolina, New Jersey, and later North Carolina, Maryland, Delaware and Georgia are believed to be descendants of the Myddeltons of Denbighshire, Wales. {Note the above picture which is a castle acquired by Sir Thomas in 1595 in Denbighshire, Wales.}

However, the large family from New Jersey were FRIENDS (Quakers)with branches that migrated to Virginia and North Carolina at a later date.

According to the information that I have acquired from descendants of the Pennsylvania Middletons, they were Scotch- Irish, and Pennsylvania was typically a colony in which Quakers, Scotch-Irish and Germans settled, as well as parts of Maryland and North Carolina.
