Beth Engel states in her book entitled THE MIDDLETON FAMILY that both English and Colonial records indicate that Robert, John and Richard Middleton left England and were in Virginia by the middle of the seventeenth century. Additionally, Daniel B. Lloyd has extensively researched the connection between the Middletons of Denbigh, Wales and the Colonial Middleton families in his 1975 publication entitled THE MIDDLETONS AND KINDRED FAMILIES OF SOUTHERN MARYLAND. Of interest to many is our possible lineage to the same royalty in Wales, as George Washington, First President of the United States.
