Well, It's that time of the year again. Spring is just around the corner, and the Municipal Band board has just finished the first organizational meeting for the 2002 concert season. We can't wait to get started!! It looks like it's going to be a fun year for everyone - band and audience! Plan on checking in every Wednesday for an update on Thursday's concert.

All concerts this summer will be in Central Park except for the July 25th concert. We will be holding that concert at the shelter house in the Greater Ottumwa Park as part of the 4-H Expo. Mark your calendars now, as that will also be our "Christmas In July" concert. We will also plan on moving concerts to the Conference Room on the 3rd floor of the City Hall if it rains. If in doubt, come anyway. If we're not set up outside, we'll be just a few short steps away!

We're also hoping to sponsor another Combined Municipal Band Concert this summer. Last year's concert was very popular with both the audience and the band. I'm hoping to put together a 100 piece band this summer made up of members from the Oskaloosa, Fairfield, Albia, Centerville, Bloomfield, and of course Ottumwa. If should be a lot of fun if we can pull it off. Watch for more information in the very near future!

You'll also be seeing more pictures this year. We'll not only have the normal "head shots" of our soloists and other featured performers or sections, but I'm going to try to get a few "candid" shots during our rehearsals and performances. Hopefully I'll get enough of them taken before anyone gets wise to what I'm doing!
