Take a short stroll on a boardwalk in the marsh or swamp, an educational self-guided walk in the city, battlefield, or woods, or a 31 mile backpacking excursion. While Louisiana may not have the trail mileage and mountain scenery of Texas or Arkansas, there are opportunities to put boots (or sneakers) to path in all sections of the state.
I spent almost 10 years researching and hiking in preparation for writing a trail guide to Louisiana hiking trails. I have given up on writing the book, and instead am lending assistance to Nina Baxley who is writing 50 Hikes in Louisiana.
