RE: 503, WA5, Custodio

The purpose of EVOC 503 WA5 was to prepare a Letter of Recommendation for myself as if I were the person asked to write the letter. The following six criteria were specified:

1.    Comply with all of the General Criteria for Written Assignments.

2.     Provide the real name and title of a person whom you might ask for a letter of recommendation from.

I selected Ms. Gloria McGee, Director ROP, Victor Valley Union High School District.

3.    Limit the letter to not more than ONE PAGE in a standard business format. Do NOT refer to anyone in the letter by only his or her first name.

4.     Include explicit information about who you (the letter writer) are and the circumstances under which you know the person (yourself) for whom the letter is being written.

5.     Include specific information about the best qualities (only) of the person for whom the letter is being written.

The following sources of information were used relative to this assignment:

1.    Custodio, Joshua - From my own professional experience.

2.     Writing Letters of Recommendation Website: http://jobsearch.about.com/cs/writingreferences/

I believe that the attached proposal meets all six of above listed criteria and respectfully request full credit: one point for meeting each of the above listed criteria.

To Whom It May Concern:

It is a pleasure for me to recommend Mr. Joshua Custodio as a highly effective and very promising Technology instructor. I have worked with Mr. Custodio as the ROP Director through his four-year teaching assignment at the Victor Valley Union High School District in Victorville, California. As his supervisor, I have been able to observe Mr. Custodio functioning in a variety of instructional roles. As a result of these observations and the professional interaction that we have had, I am confident that he will be an excellent addition to the faculty of any IT school.

During the entire period that we worked together, Mr. Custodio demonstrated total control of his students. He uses assertive discipline very effectively, equally stressing rewards and consequences. His classroom rules are clearly displayed and consistently enforced, which helps to build student self esteem and good character. He also works very well with parents, other faculty members and the school administration. Because of his excellent knowledge of technology, students and faculty alike frequently seek his advice and he is always willing to help other people in any way that he can.

Mr. Custodio’s lessons are always well planned and clearly documented. While he is very well prepared for each class, his preparations do not prevent him from altering his plans to take advantage of learning opportunities that evolve spontaneously. He is very flexible and adept at creating a variety of different learning situations to meet the varying needs of his students. His classes seem always to be exciting, interesting and well organized.

I believe that Mr. Custodio’s strongest asset is his understanding of, and dedication to, his students. He uses a sound "hands-on," student-oriented approach to learning and is willing to spend the extra time and effort necessary for those students who require extra help. He is an excellent role model for his students and is very effective at helping them to set realistic goals and work hard to accomplish those goals.

Sincerely,

Gloria McGee, Director
