I took my family home to Oklahoma. We had a wonderful time in Talihina with my 20th High School Reunion. Alex, Joel and me stayed one night at the Kerr Mansion just outside of Poteau. We even got to stay in the John F. Kennedy Room. President Kennedy stayed in that room after he dedicated Cedar Lake State Park. My pictures didn't turn out well but I will try to get them up soon.
We also took time out to go to Eufaula Lake, my Dad's favorite spot, #9 Landing. It was wonderful to go swimming in a fresh water lake.
The highlight of our trip was Brazos State Park just outside of Houston. My Aunt Judy assured us that it was safe and they camped there often. I was taking pictures of lily pads and little purple flowers and starting to calm down. I was having a hard time believing Texans like to camp in an Alligator infested Swamp, they had the nerve to call a state park!

I was starting to relax because the flowers and lily pads were spectacular. The day was a regular Southeast Texas day. Hot and humid! We walked along looking for anything but Judy said it was already too hot for the gators too come out.

Joel was ahead of the group when he saw something moving across the swamp towards the trail. I did not realize just how close he was until I saw these pictures.
I was lagging behind reading about alligator etiquette. It says to run in a zig zag pattern if you are being chased. It was so hot out I knew we had nothing to worry about.
