Rates

For a time and cost quote, fax or email five sample pages for evaluation. We will then call and help you define your requirements using our Index specifications worksheet as a guide. (Go to QuickQuote for a rough per-page cost estimate by email.) In addition, let us know your schedule since meeting deadlines is an essential part of indexing. Rates vary depending upon the complexity of material to be indexed.

These are some of the factors that must be considered when determining rates:

  • Type of book (scholarly, technical, trade, etc.)
  • Number of indexable pages (do you want notes, appendixes, glossaries indexed?)
  • Density of the text (3, 6, 8, or 10 entries per page)
  • Audience knowledge of the subject (expert, average, basic)
  • Length of work (number of pages)
  • Page or entry limit to index. (A short, limited index often takes longer than one that is comprehensive and unlimited.)

Once your needs are determined, IndexEmpire sends you a contract setting forth our agreement that includes both schedule and fees.
