WORK HISTORY

Developer for TEK Systems located in Pittsford, NY from December, 2006 through present at Excellus in Rochester, NY. Modified Unix scripts using Korn shell and awk, modified Sybase stored procedures to process the new EDI 820 DENY payments format, finished modifying and testing other changes made by another developer. Modified JCL on an IBM mainframe to get EDI files ftp'd in.  Then, modified JCL to export them in a new format for MS-Access import for billing analysis. Verified file transfer in ROSCOE. Developed a graphical user interface application to automate steps needed to process 820 payments through a Clearing House using Visual Basic, HTML and CSS for an included help system. Flow charted the process using Visio.  Maintain and enhance numerous Access applications and an Excel 2003 application for Finance.

Developer for ITX Corporation located in Bushnell's Basin, NY from December, 2004 to April, 2005. Modified Crystal Reports version 10 reports for a local customer to show a different summary of sales data.

Owner of Briggs Computers and Books, a part-time business, located in Stanley, NY from April, 2004 to present. Developed SQL Server 2000 procedures and tables in a telephone service application for a company in Dublin, Ireland. Currently, perform desktop support, web page development, and process used computer book sales.

Desktop Support for Schuyler Hospital in Montour Falls, NY from February, 2004 to May, 2004. Created and tested W98 clones for desktops, set up and trouble shoot desktops, laptops, modems, printers, internet connections, and Microsoft Outlook in a hospital environment. Supported Windows NT 4.0, 2000 and XP operating systems, too. Improved a Microsoft Access application for system support. Documented operating system setup and support steps.

Developer for Intelligroup in Edison, NJ from October, 2003 to November, 2003. Worked at GE Silicones, Inc. in Waterford, NY developing MS-Access 2000 processing for sales analysis data. Documented developed processing.

Client/Server Developer for ComTech Integrated Solutions, Inc. in Red Creek, NY from November, 2002 through September, 2003. Working through Tobin & Associates, Inc. in East Rochester, NY. Developed a client/server application administration tool using Visual Basic 6, SQL Server 2000 with Transact-SQL, and Crystal Reports. Created a User's Guide and Functional Specifications using MS-Word.

Client/Server Developer for Morris Rosenblooms in Macedon, NY for July, 2002 through JB Computer Services in Stanley, NY. Developed Access reports from Progress data using Access queries and VBA. Added reports to production databases and scheduled them.


Systems Analyst for Xerox in Rochester, N.Y. from September, 2000 to April, 2002. Contracted through First Consulting, Inc. in Rochester, N.Y. Wrote web pages to reprocess shipment notice EDI data using Oracle, C, HTML, and JavaScript on a Sun Unix system.  Migrated an application that used C  and C-shell scripts to a new version of Oracle. Developed code to load EDI data using Oracle, C, and C-shell scripts on a Sun Unix system. Developed a client/server work ticket management system in MS-Access with custom version control and application security.  Created web page and MS Word User Guides

Client/Server Developer for Xerox in Henrietta, N.Y. from May, 1999 to June, 2000. Contracted through First Consulting, Inc. in Rochester, N.Y. Developed image assignment verification tools (some with editing capabilities) using Visual Basic and Oracle. Wrote reports using Oracle views, Crystal Reports, and MS-Access.  Modified and supported Unix Korn shell scripts and Oracle packages to update level of service data.

Adult Education Instructor at Rush-Henrietta High School in Henrietta, N.Y. from Fall, 1999 through Spring, 2000. Taught three five-week Access '97 Introduction courses.

Systems Engineer at EDS Corporation in Rochester, N.Y. from November, 1997 to May, 1999. Wrote a statement of work proposal and an additional services agreement between EDS and Xerox to replace two warranty systems. Created and maintained  the project plan using MS-Project for both warranty system replacements. Designed and documented both warranty replacement systems (functional and technical specifications). Converted data for both warranty system replacements using MS-Access. Developed portions of the replacement system using Visual Basic and Crystal Reports.  Wrote SQL code to produce month end reports and spreadsheets.  Migrated and supported existing systems running on a Novell network server.

Senior Programmer/Analyst at Xerox in Webster, N.Y. from May, 1993 to November, 1997 on contract through Butler Technology Solutions, Inc. in Fairport, N.Y. Learned manufacturing processes by reading application documentation. Developed, documented, and supported  manufacturing applications including a client/server MPR system using Visual Basic, Access, and Crystal Reports.  Sold, modified, and installed a copier application written in MS-Access at a facility in Nogales, Mexico.  Set up SQL*Net, Rumba mainframe connectivity software, and network software on PCs and laptops. Modified a bar-coding and scanning application using Visual C and Attachmate mainframe scripts.  Documented Oracle Manufacturing (OMAF) keyboard usage for several terminal types.

Programmer/Analyst for Creative Business Solutions in Macedon, N.Y. from September, 1988 to May, 1993.  Developed a data conversion system to routinely convert Oracle data to ASCII so that Dunn & Bradsteet could do some of the collections for Unisys.  Developed, installed, and maintained in-house municipal software applications using Progress.  Converted Oracle and Progress applications to newer versions and upgraded hardware. Converted data from existing municipal applications to new ones for company’s applications.  Developed an ordering application to integrate with an EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) application and supported use of EDI trading software.  Developed and maintained a collections application using Oracle and bourne shell scripts for Unisys.  Developed sales applications in RBASE 5000 for Unisys.  Trouble shot hardware and operating system problems on PCs and Unix systems.  Tuned Unix system kernels.  Developed a user interface for a scanner application.  Set up terminals, printers, modems and developed backups on Unix-based systems.

Programmer at Softcare Computer Services in Palmyra, NY from April, 1987 through May, 1988.  Modified prewritten accounting software to meet client needs. Developed, installed, and supported a local inventory system for Keybank.

Programmer/Analyst/Bookkeeper for J&S Conveyors, Inc. in Honeoye, NY from August, 1985 through May, 1986.  Developing a general ledger system. Performing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. Recorded payroll entries in the company books. Balanced the company check book. Evaluated new hardware and software options.
