A nifty dividing Line

Florida Sport Horse Club, Inc., was organized in 1987, by a small group of horse folks in the Lake Wales, FL area,  that felt there was a need for people to get together for fun trail rides and camping trips.  The club has grown to almost 100 members, from all parts of the state of Florida.

We  try to plan a Saturday ride a month, a Sunday ride a month, and one camping weekend.  On the camp outs, we usually put a pot luck supper together on Saturday evening, that gives us a chance to get to know each other and catch up on each other's activities.  We also ride in occasional parades, have cook outs, and moonlight rides.  We get together for fun, we are open to and have all breeds of horses and mules, all ages of people, and ride every chance we get.

Newsletter for horse enthusiasts                           Feb. 1999

Couple of notes — For Your Information type thing — at Lake Louisa, the
area beyond the bridge is now off limits — they are putting in a regular
camping area with cabins and a major road, I hope this does not mean that
horses are out forever — I would not bet on getting back in.  The other
is that due to a large crowd (100+) camping recently at Lake Panasoffkee,
there will be no more group permits, which means if we plan a camping
trip there, each person must apply for his own permit.  You must have a
permit to camp, the permit is free, must apply at least 10 days before
the camping date.

Scheduled rides:
Fri. - Sun. 26th - 28th — camping at Lake Panasoffkee (near Wildwood)
Please contact . Richard Jones if you plan to camp so he can be sure to
give the club's permit to someone going in case he does not go.  If you
plan to arrive after sunset, you will need to get the combination number
to open the lock from Richard. (In case you missed reading the
information about the place, read the note on the back of the map).
Sat., Mar. 6th  — Tenoroc  — 9 AM
For the dates of 3/13 or 14, 3/20 or 21 — if anyone would like to ride
at Harold Williams' — he says to just give him a call.  This is Osceola
time, so we did not plan any ride.
Sat., Mar. 27th  — Walk-in-the-Water 9 AM
Sat., April 3rd (day before Easter) — Highlands Hammock — ride at 9 AM,
at the March meeting, we will discuss the possibility of an Easter Egg
Hunt following the ride — come and vote!
April 23rd - 25th  — Camping at Tillis Hill, stalls are gone, we still
have several sites with tie outs — invite a friend. (Give me a call for
reservations)
FYI: Other rides or equine events:

This month's TIP:  When putting up a tie-out rope, use an old
girth around the tree to protect it from rope burn.

Here it is - more borrowed humor ----
Mule Ad Says - Very Athletic
It really means --- Able to buck off a 250+ pound man at
least 10 yards.

You know you are a horse person when ....
.... You know more about equine nutrition than human
nutrition and it shows.
.... You have more pictures if your horse in your office
than you have  of your family. .

'Til later -- see you on the trails ,
