CURRENT PROJECTS

We are presently working
to have Interstate 295,
I-295, named and
designated as The Korean
War Veterans Memorial
Highway. This is the main
Richmond by-pass for
north-south traffic on I-
95. We can accomplish
this in one of two methods;
we can obtain from the
governing officials of each
county or city through
which which the road
passes, a resolution to the
state transportation
board to name the road
as above or we can try to
get it passed as a
resolution by the state
senate and House of
Delegates. We already
have promises to co-
sponsor the bill from 2 in
The Senate ,2 in The
House.
Beginning with a meeting with the
City Council of Hopewell on 10-09-99,
we will contact those localities
involved----Hopewell, VA and the
Virginia counties of Prince George,
Chesterfield, Henrico, and Hanover.
We hope to get the Transportation
Board's approval in 1999 and an Act
of the Assembly to finance placing
signs on the 56-mile highway in the
year 2000. Check back with us later
for our progress or travel the
highway in 2000 and look for the
signs.
We were successful in getting the Korean
Memorial Highway bill passed in both the
Virginia House of Delegates and in the Virginia
Senate. It was signed by Governor Gilmore and
became Act 45 of the 2000 General Assembly, the
oldest continuing governing body in the USA.
We are proud of our successful efforts. The Act
will be effective on 7-1-2000.
Signs will go up soon after.
